Kaduna, Nigeria — In another disturbing incident of clergy-targeted violence, the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan has confirmed the abduction of Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, the priest of St. Gerald Quasi Parish, Kurmin Risga, in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The kidnapping occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday at the priest’s residence in Kurmin Risga, according to a statement released by Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, Chancellor of the Diocese.
“We will use every legitimate and available means to ensure that Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos returns to us unharmed and in good health,” Shanet said, while calling on the faithful to intensify prayers for the priest’s safe return.

The Diocese urged the public to remain calm and not take the law into their hands, emphasizing that the Church will cooperate with authorities to secure the priest’s release.
“May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of priests and religious, and all the angels continue to intercede for us,” Fr. Shanet added.
