In a sweeping enforcement action, the Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), has sealed 14 markets and commercial facilities along the Ketu and Ikorodu Road axis over repeated environmental violations.
🌍 Commissioner for the Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, reiterated the government’s firm commitment to the Zero Tolerance for Waste campaign, warning:
“We are not going back on it. The only acceptable path for all markets and traders is to adopt and maintain decent waste management practices.”

- Demurin Street Plaza Shops, Ketu
- 6 Demurin Road Occupants
- Ifelodun Market, Ketu
- Ibadan Unit 1 Park
- Ketu Tipper Garage
- Ikosi Fruit Market
🧹 The markets will remain closed indefinitely until:
- Proper sanitation measures are implemented
- Approved waste bins are procured
- Engagement with LAWMA-licensed PSP operators is confirmed
- Compliance is sustained and verified
This move follows a string of unheeded warnings and is part of a larger effort to enforce environmental discipline across the state.
