Trabzonspor’s punishment for attack on Osayi-Samuel, other Fenerbahce stars reduced by Turkish Federation

The punishment meted out to Turkish club Trabzonspor for its fans’ attack on Bright Osayi-Samuel and other Fenerbahce players has been reduced following an appeal

Trabzonspor, the Turkish Super League club embroiled in controversy following a pitch invasion and brawl with Fenerbahce players, has seen its punishment reduced by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) following an appeal.

Initially facing a six-match spectator ban due to the actions of their supporters, Trabzonspor’s punishment has now been reduced to four matches after the club lodged an appeal with the TFF. The decision comes after Trabzonspor’s fans stormed the pitch and engaged in altercations with Fenerbahce players during a recent match.

In addition to the reduction in the spectator ban, the TFF’s arbitration board has also decreased Trabzonspor’s fine from 3,000,000 to 448,000 Turkish Lira ($14,000). The decision marks a significant reduction in financial penalty for the club.

Fenerbahce Players’ Suspensions Upheld

While Trabzonspor saw a reduction in their punishment, the TFF’s arbitration board upheld the one-match suspensions handed to Fenerbahce players Can Egribayat and Jayden Quinn Oosterwolde for their involvement in the brawl.
